Lackawanna Supports Veterans Small Business Week
City of Lackawanna, NY – October 26, 2015
City of Lackawanna Mayor, Geoffrey M. Szymanski, is pleased to recognize U.S Small Business Administration National Veterans Small Business Week and declares “November 2nd through the 6th as being Veterans Small Business Week throughout the City of Lackawanna”.
Mayor Szymanski and the Lackawanna Chamber of Commerce will be holding a press event Monday, November 2, 2015 in front of the Chamber of Commerce Office located at 640 Ridge Road, Lackawanna.
As a veteran himself, Mayor Szymanski recognizes the importance and value of showing support for our Veterans and their entrepreneurial efforts throughout the community.
In addition to establishing the Veterans Small Business Week throughout the City of Lackawanna, Mayor Szymanski and Michael J. Sobasczek, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce jointly announce the following programs:
- A free webinar for Veterans and their spouses , presented by the US SBA, the Department of Defense, Blue Star Families and the ROSIE Network; titled “Military Spouses; Jump-Start and Grow Your Own Small Business” those interested in the webinar are to advised to join at http://zeiders.adobeconnect.com/secoseminar on Wednesday November 4th @ 12 Noon, ;
- The City of Lackawanna will pass an ordinance waiving the filing fees associated with the Business Registration Ordinance; and
- The Chamber of Commerce will provide a reduced membership for Veterans as well as identifying them as “Veteran Entrepreneurs” on the webpage.
The Director of Development for the City of Lackawanna, Fred K. Heinle, noted that the City of Lackawanna “looks forward to establishing programs and policies that support existing and future Veteran enterprises within the City of Lackawanna” and implores “all residents to recognize and support these Small Business Heroes”
